FAQ
SOAR has guided women in all walks of life towards recovery.
We've found the following steps to be critical in every recovery process.
What is SOAR Evansville?
SOAR (Survivors of Abuse Restored) is a peer-led, faith centered program designed to help survivors of childhood sexual abuse journey toward healing, restoration, and hope.
The Evansville branch partners with the main SOAR campus in Sellersburg, Indiana, bringing the same trusted curriculum and compassionate support to our local community. Our goal is to create a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where survivors can explore their experiences, rebuild healthy boundaries, and reclaim their lives at a comfortable pace.
SOAR Evansville is facilitated by a team of trained peer leaders and overseen by our Site Coordinator, Andi Adams, who has two decades years of personal experience with mental health development and SOAR. Participants benefit from a structured 13-week program, small-group discussions, practical tools for healing, and the support of facilitators who have “been there” themselves.
Whether you are just beginning your healing journey or seeking continued growth, SOAR Evansville provides community, understanding, and guidance in a way that is gentle, respectful, and empowering.
Who is This Group For?
SOAR Evansville serves:
Adult women (18+)
Survivors of childhood sexual abuse
Those seeking a safe, faith-based, peer-led environment to process their story
Survivors who want structure, support, and community as they pursue healing
This group is specifically designed for childhood sexual abuse (CSA) recovery.
If you are an adult survivor of adult sexual abuse, you can join the group but keep in mind the context is geared towards CSA recovery.
For men, an online group is available through SOAR. Please reach out to Rob Schettler at 502-649-2083.
Do I have to talk?
No. You participate at your own pace. Listening is completely okay.
Do I have to be a Christian?
No. SOAR is faith-based, but you are welcome regardless of your background.
What if I’m currently in therapy?
SOAR often complements therapy well. It is not a replacement for clinical care.
What if I’m terrified to come?
Most survivors feel fear walking into their first session. It’s normal, and you won’t have to navigate it alone. Your intro call with Andi helps ease that first step.
What if I can’t make it every week?
Life happens. Just let us know — consistency is encouraged, not demanded.
Can I join late?
New participants join at the beginning of each 13-week cycle only. Early inquiries are encouraged.
